our story

synerBuild Design, PLLC was established by Jeffrey Gibbons and Alex Melendez to enhance project team collaboration, reduce the design delivery timelines, and increase productivity between the design firm and the fast-paced construction planning process. This is achieved by overlapping project management best practices with a closer understanding of the clients specific programing and design needs with an enhanced emphasis on delivering quality design documents quickly and with minimal revisions.


synerBuild Design, PLLC enjoys a reputation for delivering innovative, leading-edge facility planning, design and consultation through a process that is highly responsive and personalized to the specific needs and requirements of each client. This has resulted in a diverse client base and successful working relationships with several major Fortune 500 entities and a history of repeat business.

Jeff Gibbons 

Jeff is an Architect with life-long residency in North Carolina. He graduated from the College of Architecture at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. At licensure in 1991, Jeff opened his first corporate firm in 1992, and with 33-years of professional experience, has completed over 800 projects. As managing Design Partner, Jeff’s design portfolio represents Commercial Business, Manufacturing, Medical, University Education, Master Planning, Restoration and Renovations.

Jeff is a Member in good standing with the American Institute of Architects, (AIA) where he has served as President of the local chapter, and has met all requirements for Council Certification for the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). Jeff is currently licensed in NC and Texas; with pursuit of licensure in Florida and California.

As Managing Design Partner of synerBuild Design, PLLC, Jeff has the unique ability to translate conceptual ideas into coherent construction documents. He enjoys working with clients to help create aesthetically pleasing solutions to their building needs, and finds gratification in watching an idea move from his mind to the built environment.

Alex Melendez 

As Director of Operations of synerBuild Design, PLLC, Alex brings a unique perspective due to his broad and extensive background in architecture, construction, and Owner’s representative construction management. Having worked internally and externally for major corporations, he possesses a strong awareness of customer service, an in-depth understanding of the development end-to-end process, and an ability to remain focused in an environment of competing priorities. His understanding of the entire project cycle from programming and design, through construction and move in enables him to provide comprehensive design oversight. Capitalizing on his global construction experiences, he is a project steward for turn-key solutions. 

Alex’s collaborative approach, problem solving skills, exceptional communication and organization support his goal of successfully delivering projects. Alex is a proven leader, anticipating potential pitfalls and advocating on behalf of the client. His intimate involvement in a variety of industrial, government, commercial tenant fit-out, retail, corporate facilities, life sciences, and fitness centers projects provides him a well-rounded eye for a variety of projects.
